Our Hanworth nursery is based on a main road on Hounslow road, situated inside the Hanworth Youth centre just in front of Oriel school. We are in a one level building and the children are based in one large room. We have one fenced off garden, which is paved providing the children with a large outside area.

We are registered to care for 26 children a day and we cater for children aged 1 year to 5 years. The nursery is open Monday to Friday, 52 weeks of the year (Excluding Bank Holidays) 7.45am until 6pm.

There is a large range of toys and equipment for the children to play with and they are all accessible at the children’s level.

We encourage free flow between the room and the garden and we give children the choice to play inside or outside for the majority of the day.

A routine is in place for the children although the nursery focuses on active learning and the children being leaders of their own play.

We have a good sized garden with plenty of toys, bikes and cars to play with. We have parts of the garden under a shelter so this allows us to play outside when the weather is not so good.

The setting is a High/Scope based nursery where children are encouraged to become independent thinkers and plan their own activities with the support of staff.

The children are grouped into key working groups according mainly to age. They have key person who is in charge of filling out and updating their development packs, planning activities for them during small group time and completing home link books. The nursery offers a settling in period before your child starts in order for them to become familiar with their key person and the other staff.

The key person will observe the children and ensure all activities relate to the children's individual needs and interests as stated within the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. The setting has a qualified Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and the setting is inclusive to all children and their families. We work closely with a variety of outside agencies in the Hounslow borough to ensure the children and their families are fully supported. The setting reflects the different cultures and religions of our children and this reflects on the equipment and layout of the setting, showing diversity and positive images within the displays, menus and activities that we provide for the children.
