We are registered to care for 42 children a day and cater for children aged 3 months – 5 years. We are open Monday- Friday 8am – 6 pm, 51 weeks a year only closing for bank holidays. The nursery is brightly decorated with lots of examples of the children’s work, photos, and posters. The nursery is divided into two rooms by a floor to ceiling partition. The pre-school room caters for 26 children ages 2-5 years and the toddler room can cater for 16 children aged 3 months – 2 years. The nursery has two outdoor play areas that are safe and secure. We make regular use of the park and surrounding areas including feeding the ducks, nature walks and visiting the local library. The nursery was awarded OUTSTANDING status by OFSTED in February 2019.

Uxbridge Nursery

At Once Upon a Time our aim is to provide a warm happy place where your child can be looked after with stimulation, fun, rest, healthy food and where they can grow into inquisitive, socially aware children. Our caring, dedicated, enthusiastic practitioners take huge pleasure in helping children grow and develop to reach their full potential during their time with us. Each child will be allocated a key member of staff who will be primarily responsible for your child and who will be your principal point of conduct. They will also plan fun activities to enrich a child’s learning, the key worker will carry out group time daily with children of a similar age. The key person will always take into consideration each child’s individual interests and stage of learning when planning for group time. This enables us to best fulfil the needs of your child and provide you with accurate feedback of their development and well – being.

The setting is fully inclusive to all children, we promote diversity and equality and incorporate this into our everyday practice, we encourage all children to participate in daily activities and will make adaptations to ensure every child is included. We encourage other multi- agencies to work alongside us to support children with SEN in their development. The setting has an appointed SENCO who will help liaise between other professionals, parents, and staff to ensure the care each child receives is to the best of our ability, the setting will use relevant documentation to support your child’s development and regularly use my support plan to see each child’s progress, set targets and include information relevant to the child. This is a working document that gets reviewed every 6 weeks, we invite all multi agencies and parents to work with us and are happy to arrange a team around the child meeting to discuss your child’s progress and next steps. We reflect the different cultures and religions of our local community and celebrate different cultural festivals.

We provide a variety of activities throughout the day and all our toys and equipment are available for the children to access during their stay at nursery. We encourage free flow between all areas of the nursery and give children the choice to play inside or outside at all times. We encourage parent participation by using home target forms for your input on your child’s learning and development, the setting uses an online app called EYlog, this is used by many settings. Parents can share their child’s achievements at home and can see what your child’s been achieving at nursery. We also use this system to convey messages between the setting and parents and send reminders of upcoming events and send out a daily diary for each child so parents can see what their child ate, nappy changes and sleep times.

We offer our children well-balanced, nutritional meals and snacks that are cooked by out dedicated on site cook. As we prepare most of our foods from scratch, we can ensure that our food contains minimal amounts of salt and sugar. We are used to catering for children with food allergies and all kinds of dietary requirements, just let us know and we will make sure your child’s specific dietary requirements are catered for. The nursery has an open-door policy and will arrange for a time for you to come and have a look around the setting; we look forward to meeting you.
